Service Description

In November 2017, Shilpa and Adi started conducting free sessions of folk music and discourses at Cubbon Park, Bangalore. Shilpa, coached people’s voices and taught folk songs that she inherited from her grandmother along with the songs she and Adi collected in the field with their main focus on the songs, music and theatre that has been followed by the Yellamma Community, along with infusions of Dollina paga, Gegee pada, Kani mela and Karadi Majjlu. Along with the translations and interpretations of the songs, information was exchanged and discussed pertaining to form, the community, places and its politics. From here, Shilpa and Adi went on to forming a team and creating their flagship performance 'Yellamma and Other Stories'. One could find Shilpa and Adi at Cubbon Park sitting close to the Band Stand from Monday to Saturday every week in the early hours of the morning until January 2020.
